COACHING*
If you need guidance, feedback, motivation, and/or regular structure, having a writing coach could help you reach your goal more effectively.

Initial 40 minute Zoom discovery meeting - free.

Fee: Initial session £100 - includes reading/feedback of submission (up to 500 words) plus 40 mins Zoom session to discuss.

Subsequent further sessions are £80 each whether weekly or monthly - whichever suits your schedule.

During coaching, I focus on four main areas:
Goal setting
Motivation
Guidance
Accountability

We’ll work together to find a way that makes sense for you. The essence being that if the method we use is enjoyable then results will happen naturally because if you enjoy what you’re doing, you’re more likely to continue with it.

We’re all different but are generally more open-minded to things we find value in and things that are fun. Some people prefer to get stuck straight in, while others appreciate a little handholding. Some respond well if the project is gamified, the concept that makes every step fun and gives instant rewards for progress made.

Throughout our time together, we’ll have frequent discussions via Zoom, you’ll receive emails and WhatsApp messages (if required), friendly yet professional feedback, suggestions, tips and more to help you reach your goal.

We’ll connect weekly or monthly, whichever suits your schedule, until you feel confident enough to continue independently or until your project is completed.

What does coaching look like in practice?

Clients send a piece of writing via email of up to 500 words each week/month. I work through it line by line and, using MS Word Track Changes, make comments or give tips in the margin. Comments might be a suggestion of how to reword the section evoking more emotion/tension/excitement/etc. I’ll highlight areas that I considered brilliant and give tips where I feel you might have struggled. Afterwards, I’ll give my feedback in a positive and constructive way and email that back. We can then Zoom to discuss that submission and my feedback and then you’ll work on the next piece to send. You can use this Zoom call to use me as a sounding board for any future ideas too.

Payment includes: Weekly guidance and coaching of client's emailed submission (up to 500 words) using MS Word ‘content tracker’. I'll add suggestions and give guidance. I will also highlight areas that may require editing/proofreading which can be discussed in the Zoom session. Marked submission will be returned via email within seven working days of receipt.

*Ts&Cs apply. Check Ts&Cs on bottom right hand corner of each page.

Testimonials:

I met Sarah with an almost completed manuscript, a wobble of self-confidence, and an absolute lack of knowledge of what to do next. Sarah was encouraging, unstinting in advice and guidance, and boosted my confidence no end. I learned so much from her. She is very skilled with writing and extremely knowledgeable. She’s gifted in bringing out the best in people. If you have a book in you Sarah will be invaluable in helping to bring it out. JR

If you're an aspiring writer and you want to work with someone who will happily go the extra mile for you, then Sarah is your lady. RD

I knew my son had the ability to excel at English, but he was not being inspired at school. Sarah is excellent at quickly accessing individual needs at her initial consultation, then formulating her coaching to fit. She also re-ignited his passion for reading. NT

The confidence you’ve given me in my writing…I’m so thankful! SL

TESTIMONIALS
Editing
I can thoroughly recommend SJ Banham’s writing services, and here’s why:

You write an 80,000 word story, you read and re-read it. You correct your spellings and punctuation. It’s finally finished and you sit back and marvel at your perfect creation. It is without doubt the greatest piece of writing ever, and the whole world just has to read it. But hold on, have you repeated yourself? It all makes sense to you but does it make sense to anyone else. Are the sentences too long, is the pacing off (have you written it’s when you should have written its). Might it be an idea to get someone else to read it? That’s where S J Banham comes in. Sarah is a professional editor, writing coach and all around nice person. I sent her my manuscript and within two weeks she had read it and made suggestions. Yes my pacing was off, some of my sentences were too long but it was not criticism, the comments were advice and suggestions, and praise where praise was due.

In short, it was like having your homework marked by a favourite teacher. TT
